Well, we’re doing this thing.
The link below will take you to the first ever episode of The DBC Podcast. On this inaugural episode, I’m joined by Mark Paul, Minister of Students, and Steve Johns, teacher of the Sunday morning class “Growing in Christ.” Despite some sound issues and the fact that none of us knew much about recording a podcast, Mark and Steve contributed to a challenging and insightful conversation about how we still play favorites in our churches today.
Maybe we’re not immediately dismissive of people in shabby clothes (or are we?), but we certainly still accept many cultural taboos and observable sins that cause us to look down on some, while those whose sins are committed “in the dark” are embraced with no equivocations. Sometimes these seemingly squeaky-clean folks even find themselves as the ones we want to sit on our committees and serve as teachers.
What are the standards by which we nominate leaders? Is it always wrong to judge, or are some kinds of judgment necessary while other kids destructive?
These questions, and more, are tackled on the first ever DBC Podcast. Enjoy!
