A Farmer’s Life For Me

Did you know that if you own a car, you automatically belong among the wealthiest 8% of people in the world? Yes! I’m serious. Even if it’s a 25-year old Dodge Dart that hasn’t darted anywhere since the Reagan administration. Guess what. You’re rich!

Wealth is a tricky thing. Few of us consider ourselves wealthy, and even those of us who do see the accumulation of money and assets as a much more nuanced thing. Rich people don’t swim in a sea of gold coins like Scrooge McDuck. However, according to the Book of James, they have a clear responsibility for how they do handle their wealth. In fact, all of us do, no matter at what point you find yourself on the economic spectrum. The Kingdom of God is not a capitalist system. It demands more than our money, sure, but among its demands is most definitely our money.

On this episode of The DBC Podcast, Bo is joined by his own Sunday School teachers (yes, seriously!), George and Sue Haynes, a delightful married couple who have been members of DBC for over thirty years, and have been Bible study teachers throughout that time. George and Sue have worked a lot of different jobs, and have some well-earned perspectives on how we spend not only our money, but our time and our energy. It’s definitely worth your time to listen to what they have to share.
