The Gospel According to Disney Marathons

It didn’t take much for Todd to respond to God’s prompting. Just a lunch invite, followed by a dinner invite, and then train for a marathon…

Not much at all.

On this episode of The DBC Podcast, I sit down with two incredibly dedicated servants of the church – Todd Buechter and Whalen Kuller – both of whom wear multiple hats. However, this episode is dedicated to the story of how Todd responded to God’s prompting back in 2005 to share the gospel with Whalen. Their story is a simple one, but it has had a profound impact on both men, not to mention on their families.

That’s really what the conversation is all about this week. What is the gospel really about, and how does one go about sharing it? Sometimes we can become so intimidated by the idea explaining the gospel message or talking about what we believe, but as Todd explains, so much of his interaction with Whalen in those first few months was in no way organized or well prepared. He simply did his best to answer Whalen’s questions honestly, and allow God to do the rest.

Todd and Whalen also talk about their work now with the Student Ministry of DBC and how they help teenagers with the confidence to honestly share their faith. In so doing, they demystify evangelism, which is a word that can ring heavy in some ears.

I hope you enjoy their story this week. There are some sound issues, but it’s mostly consolidated to my own voice, which is the least important one. Tune in to what Todd and Whalen have to say. You’ll be glad you did.
